Radiohead – In Rainbows – October 10th

Finally! And Holy Shit! Radiohead announce the release date of their new album which is entitled “In Rainbows“, but it may surprise you as to how they are releasing it. Digitally… and they are letting you decide how much you want to pay for it. I’m not kidding either.

Go to Radiohead.com to see for yourself. If you choose to pre-order the album for digital download you can pay what you want to pay, or you can pre-order the box set which has more songs and goodies. That one is not free though but you can still download the album for free as well on October 10th. That’s next Wednesday. Radiohead was already the greatest band alive, but now they have just turned the music industry on their heads. Radiohead no longer has a record label and is the first band to really take this giant leap into the future of music. Time will tell how this changes the industry but my suspicions lead me to believe that this news will have some music executives shitting in the pants. Read the bands release below and check out the tracklist too. I recommend giving these guys something if you download the new album, they deserve it.

Radiohead.com is open for business with pre-orders having begun today for their 7th studio album In Rainbows, which will be available from October 10 as a DRM-free MP3 download. Also available to pre-order from now is the Discbox, a special edition box set, details of which are below.

Radiohead’s fan service, WASTE, is currently taking advance orders for two formats: the album MP3 and the Discbox, which includes double vinyl and CD versions of the record and a second, enhanced CD with additional new songs, artwork, and photographs of the band, all exclusive to the box. Anyone purchasing this deluxe edition will automatically receive the bundled MP3 album on October 10.

Radiohead are currently planning a traditional CD release of In Rainbows for early 2008.
